SpaceCorp: 2025-2300AD Game Overview

Quick Rules Summary

Players use cards to move around planets and moons to explore them and build buildings.

The first age covers Earth to Mars, the second age goes from the inner solar system to Pluto and beyond. The third age (which we didn’t get a chance to play) goes even further out.

How do you win?

In each era, there are seven goals to complete and players will score points for doing so first. You also get points for exploring the map and producing on certain planets.

Most points wins.

Main Mechanisms

Playing cards controls everything and there is a bit of hand management there. You have a board and up to 4 cards can be added there which count as always being in your hand.

USP

Playing 3 rounds where the board changes each time to get more epic in scale must be a USP.

Theme

Space exploration has been done, a lot.

Setup

The setup doesn’t take long at all. Put the board out, shuffle the cards etc. You just have to do it 3 times during the game.

Components & Artwork

It’s from GMT and the components are very GMT. The cards have big chunky text on them, you can’t miss it!

There isn’t much art at all.

Ease of Teaching

The game is easy to teach. Moving is a bit tricky, but it starts easily in round 1 so in round 3 you’re used to it.

Similar Games

Hmm, not sure. You could go Star Wars: Outer Rim? Just thinking of space exploration games and can’t think of any like this. Maybe Gaia Project at a push…

So no, nothing similar as such but plenty in the genre.

SpaceCorp: 2025-2300AD Review

Positives

The expanding scale of the game is really fun.

The actions are very simple to take, aided by the very clean card text.

Negatives

The tile and card drawing is a bit random.

Summary

Looks like 2 players leaves the board too open and sounds like 4 players leaves it too cramped. But, it might be good with 3?
