In Queendomino you’ll build a Kingdom using domino-style tiles…
…I’m sure I’ve played this before?
Build up the most prestigious kingdom by claiming wheat fields, forests, lakes, grazing grounds, marshes, and mountains. Your knights will bring you riches in the form of coins — and if you make sure to expand the towns on your lands, you will make new buildings appear, giving you opportunities for new strategies. You may win the Queen’s favour… but always be aware of the dragon!
Queendomino Review
My first impressions of Queendomino including a brief overview of gameplay followed by my final summary.
Summary
The obvious comparison here is to the kid brother, Kingdomino. Queendomino is Kingdomino with extra steps.
In my initial review of Kingdomino, I said that maybe it was TOO light. You take a tile, choose a tile, place a tile, and that’s it. The player that places them the best will win but that’s all the game is.
Here you add a few things:
Knights for income. They give you money for the next part.
Buildings, that can be built for a one-off bonus or end-game scoring. They can also give you…
Towers can be used to attract the…
Queen, who counts as a Crown if she ends the game in your Kingdom.
So what it does is give you so much more to think about. I’ve only played Kingdomino around 4-5 times so I’m not bored of it, I’m still learning game to game.
So to play this I’m still playing THAT game, but also keeping my eye on 2-3 other things.
So is it a good simple game with bloat or have they added to an already good system?
That is up to you to decide 🙂 For me, I’d happily play either, and will hopefully get to combine both 🙂
