The Noodle Game is a game about Noodles.
I haven’t got a lot on my plate.
The aim of The Noodle Game is to score the most points by picking up various value noodles from the box and placing them on your place without dropping them on the table.
The Noodle Game Game Play
There is a box full of various-length plastic Noodles and each player has a Plate and a pair of Chopsticks.
One player will get a Noodle from the box using the Chopsticks and move it over to their plate. if any part of the Noodle touches the table, they put it back in the box and the next payer takes their turn.
But, once the Noodle has fully left the box, any other player can try and grab it with their Chopsticks. If a player gets the Noodle to touch their plate they get to keep it.
After all the Noodles have gone, points are added depending on the length of each Noodle. They are worth 1 to 10 points and the player with the most points is the winner.
Theme
You know, I’ve never seen this style of box in England. Only ever in Germany and on TV shows like Friends.
Also, if I take Noodles out of a box and you try and steal them, it’ll be the last thing you ever do. 🙂
Setup & Rulebook
No setup, and no rules… Simple.
Components & Artwork
The Plates and Chopsticks are nice sturdy plastic. It’s possible the Chopsticks could break after repeated plays, they have that feel to them.
The Noodles are good but it’s really hard to tell apart the ones worth 1 point and those worth 3 points. They’re very similar.
Ease of Teaching & Accessibility
Teaching is very easy as you can imagine.
This is a family game from a big box store and so is designed to be accessible. There may be physical restrictions, however.
The Noodle Game Summary
I’d put this game alongside other speed games like Ghost Blitz or more recently Nine Tiles Panic. This SHOULD be compared to dexterity games rather than speed games but it’s not the case.
The problem here is the ‘stealing’ rule. Due to this, you need to get the Noodle out of the box and to your plate before anyone can grab it. So you do it quickly and either it lands on your plate and you score it or it hits the table and you don’t.
So while we had a good laugh playing it, it wasn’t a good ‘game’.
