“I’m sorry but your test results show you react positively to HIV”
“Hooray!”
~ Cyanide & Happiness
From the creators of Cyanide & Happiness comes a card game where players compete to finish an awful comic strip.
So… Joking Hazard is a voting game. A player puts a card out, puts one before or after it then everyone else submits one as the third panel in the cartoon face down…
The active player picks which one they think is best, and that player gets a point. Play until someone has enough points or you get bored.
That’s pretty much it… It actually works quite well and usually, someone has a card that fits.
Not one to overplay like Cards Against Humanity but it’ll be fun every so often.
Joking Hazard Update June 2018
So there are plenty of games like this now. Obviously, Cards Against Humanity is the main one and the rest, well, copy it?
That’s why this one is good. It’s more creative than just playing answers to questions. The setup is as important as the punchline. Those first two cards help the third card. Sometimes it’s not even the words on the card but the image.
A picture paints a thousand words.
Another inventive game is the Bucket of Doom which allows you to be creative with your reasoning. It’s still an adult theme but more of a storytelling game where you get creative with grown-up items.
Both this and Joking Hazard let you be more creative than Cards Against Humanity.
I guess this is what I’m looking for. Not to just play the sickest card, but to tap into the sick part of my brain. 🙂 Hey, it’s a game, right? 🙂
I must admit, as fun as these games are I would still rather play a more traditional filler like Love Letter for example.
But I wouldn’t turn these down, just let’s not play them too often.
