Seriously, that’s what it’s called…

Did you know that magical wizards are battling to the death … and beyond … right now!? “Why battle?” you might ask. “What have I got to prove, magic man?” Only who’s the most awesomely powerful battle wizard in the entire realm, that’s what!

As a Battle Wizard, you’ll put together up to three spell components to craft millions (okay, not really) of spell combos. Your spells might kick ass, or they could totally blow – it’s up to you to master the magic.

You will unleash massive damage on the faces of your wizard rivals in a no-holds-barred, all-out burn-down to be the last Battle Wizard standing. And it doesn’t stop there! Powerful magic items bring on a whole new level of bloody carnage as you and your mighty wizard opponents tear each other limb from limb in an orgy of killing!

Do you have what it takes to use epic spells in a war at Mt. Skullzfyre? Will YOU be the Ultimate Battle Wizard!?!

This is light and fun, or “Cryptozoic” as it’s known.

Character

Choose a character card, I picked Princess Holiday and her Furicorn! You start on 20 life and draw 8 cards. You use those cards to create a spell using a Source, Quality and Delivery.

Spells

These spells are used to kill your foes. Be the ‘Last Wizard Standing’ to get the last Wizard standing token. Win while holding one of these and you win Epic Spell Wars of the Battle Wizards: Duel at Mt. Skullzfyre.

Turn Order

The number of cards you add to your spell determines who acts first in each round. Put one card in, you probably go first. Put 5 in and you probably go last but you can only use 3 of those cards for your spell.

Why go last? Well, some spell components only target people who have already acted this round so the later you go the more targets you hit. The Delivery part of the spell also has an initiative number, highest acts sooner.

Elements

Each spell card has an element and you can get a bonus for using the same element for each part of the spell. Of course, this game is crazy, you can also get a bonus for using different elements in a spell.

The best thing about the Spells is the names you end up making when you add 3 portions of the card together.

Player Elimination

So player elimination… Touchy subject for some people but this game has a way of balancing it.

If you get knocked out you get a Dead Wizard card which gives you a bonus to the next round. Every round you miss due to being Dead gets you another bonus. These bonuses are good enough that you get an edge in the next round but not so good that you can’t be beaten.

Our 5 player game of Epic Spell Wars of the Battle Wizards: Duel at Mt. Skullzfyre was a bit of an epic. All 5 of us have a ‘Last Wizard Standing’ token going into the last round.

I JUST managed to pip the last player to the post to win the Duel at Mt. Skullzfyre.
