Articulate! Board Game – First Impressions

I can’t Articulate why I always make time to play a mass-market game.

But I will say I hadn’t played this one before.

Try to get your partner to say as many words from a particular category written on the cards within the thirty-second time limit, you may only pass once.

…and that’s the game. Kinda.

You have 30 seconds to describe as many words/phrases as you can without mentioning anything on the word/phrase, or using any ‘Sounds Likes…’ etc

Articulate Card

The more you get right the faster you move around the board to the finish line.

Articulate Board

The board is overly complex with rules for those wild card spaces and a spinner on the board that really wasn’t needed 🙂

The wild card ‘control’ spaces see the team fight it out against each other over one question with the team answering first taking the next turn.

The main speaking/guessing part is a really good game but it needs a makeover as Pictionary got with Pictomania.

That would be cool.

Articulate! Update 12/06/2018

There are plenty of speed word games like this, especially mass-market ones. Pass the Bomb is OK but not for me. Tension is fun too.

I have always liked this kind of game, especially where there is a twist to it.

The general knowledge style games are fine but it tilts everything to the most intelligent player. Some games need to balance things up and speed will do that. Just like a speed co-op will remove the alpha gamer, mostly 🙂

The Chameleon makes you think quick, but only if you’re the Chameleon. It’s also just one word so you only need to think fast for less than a few seconds.

But, Articulate is still good and still fun. Hopefully newer editions have more updated references. Denise van Outen isn’t old, but I would assume a lot of younger people wouldn’t know who she is now?
