6 Nimmt! Card Game First Impressions

So, 6 Nimmt!, I have no idea how to play this game…

..but I won

In 6 nimmt!, a.k.a. Category 5 and many other names, you want to score as few points as possible.

The game starts with four rows of cards, each with one randomly selected card face up. All players draw ten cards.

In each round, every player chooses a card and places it face down. The chosen cards are turned face up simultaneously, and then each card gets added to one of the rows after a particular set of rules:

  • Lowest card first, highest card last.
  • A card gets moved to the pile where the last card has the lowest difference in value.
    • If this is not possible, the card’s owner has to choose one row and take all cards in it (not in his hand), then place his card.
    • If the card is moved to a row that already has five cards in it, the cards in it must be taken in the same fashion.

6 Nimmt! Summary

Ok, now I know how to play kinda… I still don’t get the rules on which pile a card goes on…

6 Nimmt Game Play

The cards have a number of Bullheads on them. At the end of the game you count up how many Bulls-heads are on the cards you have taken and if you have the fewest you win…

I won but not having any idea which piles my card was going to go on it felt very random.

Update 30/05/2018

Still have no idea how I won this. I just had a feeling of which card to play based on the cards on the table and it worked out OK 🙂

So, I assume I would be destroyed by an experienced player but at the time it was my day.

I don’t know what to compare it to, maybe Recycle? There you play cards into piles while trying not to gain cards.

That game is better 🙂
