Farm Club First Impressions
Farm Club is all about getting the animals to run the farm.
Can you place them in the best position?
The revolt has sounded and the animals chased the farmer away: now, help them to get organised!?
Farm Club Game Overview
Quick Rules Summary
Players draft a scoring card that comes paired with a random animal meeple. That animal is placed on one square of the 3×3 farm grid.
When players have each drafted 9 animals, one of which is a leader drafted from a separate selection, the game ends.
How do you win?
Players score all of the various scoring cards they have drafted. It may be that you need to have more animals of a certain type than another or a certain two animals next to each other etc Some score for having the most among all players for that bit of interactivity.
The leader comes on a card that needs you to have a specific 5 animals on your farm.
The most points win.
Main Mechanisms
Drafting from a face-up selection, pattern building and set collection. This is all done with one action per turn.
USP
The animal meeples will be a big selling point for the game, on top of the family-friendly gameplay.
Theme
The animals are taking over the farm! I like the idea that you’re placing them in the right place because you’re putting them to work in the best area for your farm.
Setup
Put animals in a bag and shuffle some cards. I believe you have to fiddle about with stuff if not playing with the max player count?
Components & Artwork
The ani-meeples are really nice. The art is adorable.
Ease of Teaching
It’s a very simple open information game, no issue here.
Similar Games
It reminded me of Draftosuarus, mostly because of the meeples.
Farm Club Review
Positives
Very cute!
Difficult gameplay with the card you draft to earn points comes attached to a thing you need to get or avoid to score points.
Negatives
Low replayability.
Summary
A fun game that I would play as a filler, but not too often.
