The Penny Papers Adventures series gives you several ‘Roll & Write’ games in different adventure-style themes. They all use 3 Dice and ALL players use ALL dice on each roll to place their numbers the best.
However, each game brings its own dangers and challenges and I played one alone, on Skull Island!
In The Skull Island, you want to progress on the map and determine the coordinates that will allow you to discover the most valuable treasures of Skull Island…while simultaneously overcoming its dangers.

This is a solo play of the game including a brief overview of gameplay and a final summary.
Update July 2018
Roll and Write games are fun. They give you a challenge to overcome despite random dice, you have to do what’s best with what you have.
Now despite enjoying Penny Papers, I didn’t keep it. I bought all 3 in the series, I played 1 and didn’t play the other two. It’s not that they’re bad, they’re not. But I need shelf space so I have to see if they make the cut.
I’ve had Qwixx for quite a while and it’s really quick and easy. Good fun. I’ve also got Dice Stars which I admit is now on my sale pile for the same reason Penny Papers Adventures is.
At the time of writing, 2018 is being called ‘The Year of the Roll & Write” and I can see that. There are a few releases, high-profile ones. A few are on my wishlist and I have at least one that I can remember coming from Kickstarter.
But there is another reason Penny Papers Adventures and Dice Stars are leaving my collection.
There are a lot of ‘Choose Your Own Adventure’ style games. I recently got and have been enjoying Legacy of Dragonholt and I also had the Graphic Novel Adventures come from Kickstarter. So when I think of Solo games, which I don’t very often, I go to them.
