Deckscape: The Fate of London (Spoiler Free)

Deckscape: The Fate of London is a game I bought that I know nothing about…

But, this was a cheap small box game I could play solo and resell afterwards so no risk, right?

The other question now is, are ‘Escape Rooms in a Box’ overdone or still good fun?

A terrible threat hangs over London, and the Crown of England needs your help! Your mission is to find four devices hidden in secret locations and defuse them before midnight. A single mistake, and the situation could degenerate quickly…

My first impressions of Deckscape: The Fate of London including a brief overview of game play followed by my final summary.

Deckscape: The Fate of London Summary

So it’s easy to compare Escape Room games right? No need to think hard about this one!

Unlock! is a lot of fun. It needs a phone or other device to work correctly as it uses the app to help solve puzzles. it also works as a timer.

It is a one-off game though. Once you’ve played it you know it and it’s done with. But, it has resale value. You don’t destroy anything so not only can you sell your copy, you can pick up second-hand copies fairly cheap.

It is worth picking up too, it’s a decent game with a good variety of puzzles.

Exit: The Game is the other comparison I have. It’s MUCH tougher. The puzzles are very brain-burny and in some cases need some out-of-the-box thinking.

It’s cheap at £8-10 so if 5-6 go in on a copy it won’t cost much for around 90 minutes of game play. However, it needs to be folded, cut and otherwise destroyed so it’s a one-and-done. But, it’s worth the money for the experience.

The game itself is fun. The puzzles had a good mix but they are all card based so it was limited. But they did provide a different mix of TYPES of puzzles as well as DIFFICULTY.

It can only be played once as the game is linear but as nothing is destroyed you can sell it on.

Overall it cost me £2-3 for around 2 hours of game play which I’m OK with.
