Game Description

It’s the early 20th century. You have decided to sail back to the newly discovered seventh continent to attempt to lift the terrible curse that has struck you since your return from the previous expedition.

The 7th Continent Round-Up

Wow, what a game!

After sorting out all of the cards the box looks a bit intimidating… ~800 cards with seemingly no order to them at all!

But you’re basically told which ONE card to start with and the rest set themselves up as they go. The included dividers make it easy to find the cards you need to get to quickly… Although unsleeved, you can whiten the tops of them as you’re flicking through.

So the gameplay itself is very simple. Move, flip a card, do a thing, get cards to do other things. It doesn’t sound like much but as you’re building out the map and this story unfolds you really get into what you’re doing.

The 7th Continent Components

There are only a few different ‘scenarios’ in the box but as cards are randomly (but deliberately) placed game to game so there is replayability there. The equipment you find vs the obstacles you’ll encounter will make you play and think differently when replaying a scenario.

But I find this game difficult to review because it’s more about the story than the mechanisms, but the gameplay itself is strong.

Just go and experience it for yourself 🙂

Rating

An excellent game with only the length of each mission knocking it down from a ‘9’.

I give it 8/10
