The Flow of History: Deluxified First Impressions

The Flow of History will take you on a whirlwind tour of our entire timeline…

Just make sure you put up a fight, or you could find yourself with nothing to do.

History is a harsh river that flows steadily through the ages. Since the dawn of time, numerous civilizations have risen over the fallen ashes of others, and yet every one of them had once shone brightly in its own moment of glory!

The Flow of History: Deluxified Review

My first impressions of The Flow of History including a brief overview of gameplay followed by my final summary.

Summary

So here the resources flow into and out of the supply and around the players which makes for an interesting game. How many resources remain in the supply will affect which action you take on your turn. Having the supply separate from the reserve in this way is a little confusing, but it works.

I was sure to stress the difference between the two at the start of teaching the game. I also kept the reserve in the little bag for extra separation.

The Deluxified version is great. The metal resources are really thick and quite nice and the oversized cards are nice too. The art and symbology on the cards is pretty good too.

You can get absolutely shut out of the game a little I think. At one point I had 3 cards in my Nation and everyone else had 7-8. This means I was open to attack so to get back on my feet I used turn after turn JUST building a defense and not my engine… Quite dull.

I wasn’t a fan of Guns & Steel either, another game by designer Jesse Li so maybe we just don’t mix.
