Tiny Epic Galaxies First Impressions

Tiny Epic Galaxies is my third Tiny Epic purchase.

I hope it’s better than Kingdoms and A LOT better than Defenders.

A thirty-minute game of galactic conquest, Tiny Epic Galaxies is driven by an exciting dice-rolling mechanism that rewards thoughtful programming of the results. Players control a home galaxy and a fleet of space ships. As players upgrade their galaxies, they gain access to more ships and more dice.

You have a mat that shows you how many dice you roll at the start of your turn, You roll them and get one free re-roll… then you can use them.

Tiny Epic Galaxies Home Galaxy

Each side of the dice will do something different.

Actions

The ‘Move’ action will let you move a ship from your home Galaxy to another planet in the middle of the table. You can either land on it and use its ability or go into Orbit it so you can colonise it later.

Two of the sides of the dice show a symbol (Economy and Diplomacy) that let you move a ship in orbit depending on the plant type. When you reach the end of the track you add the planet to your home galaxy.

Tiny Epic Galaxies Planets

The Colony action will let you take one action from a planet you added to your home galaxy. Or you can take the home galaxy action itself to spend either Energy or Culture. These let you upgrade your galaxy giving you access to more ships and dice.

The Energy and Culture sides let you ‘Harvest’ those resources depending on where your ships are.

When a player takes an action, each other player can spend a Culture to take that action too.

Planets & Secret Mission

The planets you colonise are worth points. You also have a secret mission to complete which can give you more points. When a player reaches 21 the final round is triggered. Points are scored, bonus points added and the most points wins.

Tiny Epic Galaxies Summary

This was a very nice and fun game and by far the best in the series. It’s very interactive, fairly ‘screw you’ but not too much. It also has nice bits like the other games in the series.

We played the Satellites and Super-weapons expansion which added more gameplay and a little something else to think about.

All in all a very fun game that I’m looking forward to playing more.
