Fearsome Floors First Impressions

Fearsome Floors sees folks fleeing a freak.

You’ll mention other F words while playing.

Players are trying to escape from Fürst Fieso as quickly as possible before it crumbles over their heads, or the monster catches them

Fearsome Floors Game Overview

Quick Rules Summary

Players take turns moving one of their disks around the board and flipping it over to show it’s moved this turn.

Once everyone has moved, the monster will move based on the flip of a card, following a number of rules to try and capture the player’s tokens.

Fearsome Floors Board

How do you win?

The first player to get a certain number of their characters out through the exit wins.

Main Mechanisms

Just grid movement or whatever it’s called.

USP

There are several parts to the monster and you can build your own. The parts don’t actually change the monster’s behaviour which is a missed opportunity. I’d like to see it in 3 pieces with a rulebook like 504 to show how the monster acts depending on what pieces you use.

Theme

Escaping a dungeon while being hunted is good fun.

Setup

You get to build a monster from various parts which is cool. Other than that, players take turns placing traps.

Components & Artwork

The monster is good fun, everything else is Ok.

It’s not my style of art, but the characters are pretty cute.

Ease of Teaching

Very simple. The hard part is understanding the monster’s movement rules.

Similar Games

While playing, I just kept thinking that in just two or so months I’ll have the Dead by Daylight board game.

Fearsome Floors Review

Positives

The monster looks cool.

It’s tense trying to get out!

Negatives

If you work out the monster rules you can pretty much keep yourself safe all game.

Fearsome Floors Summary

I wouldn’t mind playing this every so often, just wish they’d work on the monster rules.
