DropMix Card Game First Impressions

In DropMix, players can make beautiful music together.

Or, try and outdo each other to control the board.

DropMix is a dynamic and fast-paced music-mixing game. Players blend popular songs from award-winning artists to create mind-blowing mixes. Get together and face-off with friends to master the mix.

DropMix Summary

This is a very unique game so comparisons to other games will be… tricky.

But, Party Mode it’s essentially a co-op, speed, hand management game when it comes down to it. The music and the digital element are just a bonus.

Still, no true comparisons there. I guess other Co-op speed games like FUSE would work, that’s as close as it gets for me.

At the time of writing, I have yet to play it competitively. (Check back for an update)

I really enjoy the Puzzle mode too. It’s a slower, more deliberate game, closer to a Candy Crush style game and very different to the Party game.

DropMix Components

The quality of the ‘Deck’ is really good. It’s thick and chunky and can take some damage I would think.

The slot that holds a mobile device is really strong. It will hold an iPad well. The DropMix button is also big and chunky. Hopefully, it holds up to a lot of over-enthusiastic, quick bashings. 🙂

The cards are interesting. They look weird but they’re not tough to look at. The symbols are easy to read. Although, the instruments are difficult if you fan the cards in your hand. You need to see them in a hurry so it can be awkward.

They’re also black which means the edges go white quite easily. I’m not sure of the technology used to read the cards or how it works but the cards don’t feel great. they feel old.

But, importantly they don’t stick together and the machine card read them REALLY well. You can stack 15+ cards and it reads the top one. Depending on how the stack is balanced it may skip in and out of reading the top card above that. But, you never need cards that high in a game so it’s all good.

It’s enjoyable. For the £20 I got it for, probably not for the £120 RRP
